Ladies, Is this normal?

I breastfed for a year and then weaned my daughter I was going to be out of my prescription for the minipill the middle of December so I called my doctor and asked for Loestrin so I could start taking it instead since I knew I was weaning. I finished the minipill on the 18th and started the Loestrin on the 19th. My last period had been at the end of November. Well I am not due to start my sugar pills from the first pack until this Wednesday, however, last weekend I started spotting....it got heavy enough for a tampon, but then tapered back down, then last Wednesday it kicked back in full blast and I've been bleeding ever since. I have never had AF in the middle of a regular pill pack. I've been on loestrin before and never even had a problem with spotting. Could this be because it had been so long since I had AF from before. Should I call my doctor or just wait another month or so and see how the pills go...I just find this really odd. Thanks.
