what illness does this sound like?

My boyfriend has had ongoing issues for two years with extreme body pains. He hurts all day, every day and sometimes it makes him unable to move. He was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome, but I feel like this isn't true.. for some reason I feel like there is something else out there it could be. Recently, he visited a doctor that said it could be some disease that has to do with his thyroid, which I am leaning towards that, but he hasn't filled me in on what they've said about it. Does anyone know possible illnesses/diseases it could be? Also, does anyone know the specific name of the thyroid disease? Thanks.

Also, I know they wont lie but its been an ongoing problem, and they have given him many diagnosis that they were wrong about so I do not have much faith in them.
