Amazing Breakie Combo

I woke up yesterday with the intent to eat very well because I had a longer run scheduled for the evening. Whipped up this powerhouse combo:

I had some fresh pineapple that I thought would be delish in a green smoothie.

Into the blender went:
  • 3 cups organic baby spinach
  • 1 packet Amazing Grass Berry Green Superfood
  • 1 cup pineapple
  • 1/2 organic banana
  • 1 cup UVAB
  • 1 strawberry yogourt cup
  • 1 tbsp ground flax seed
  • 1 tsp chia seed
  • handful of ice

Give it a whirl…….and violà, a lovely bright green blend!

His & Hers. :) Yes hubby drinks ‘em too!

The results – FANTASTIC!! The pineapple was sooooo good! The banana/pineapple/strawberry yog combo made it like a tropical drink for breakfast, hehe. Anyways my only complaint is that I wish that I could find Amazing Meal around here. It has so much more protein & fiber than Superfood. I’m going to Planet Organic tomorrow so maybe I’ll be in for a surprise. :)

Completed the meal with 1/2 a toasted whole wheat english muffin smeared with yummy crunchy peanut butter.

This breakfast held me over for over 4 hours! That is some serious staying power peeps! I hate getting to work and being hungry an hour later. When I can get the right combo of protein & carbs I’m all good!

What are some of your power house breakfast combos? Do you find eating more protein with carbs helps you stay satisfied longer?

My day was just an ordinary work day, except that I got out late (well after 5pm) and had to boot it home to scarf down some fuel pre-run in order by downtown by 615pm. Luckily, I managed to escape most of the rush hour bridge traffic because I was so late. :) Was a nice night for the group run – quite mild. We ran all along the waterfront and back up and then down Upper Water street. 7.5K in total.

In some exciting news, Susan from The Great Balancing Act is coming to Halifax this weekend. We’re having a G2G lunch on Sunday at The Wooden Monkey and inviting other locals to join in on the fun. Leave a comment with your email addy or send me an email lifehealthfit@gmail.com so that I can pass along all the deets!

Happy Hump Days Peeps!
