I used to do this..and trust me there is noway to lose weight this way plus it's so unhealthy..so i changed this and i eat something at the start of the day before i go to school..and i lost weight just by doing this
so just eat breakfast in the morning..which will simulate your body to burn more during the day activity but if you didn't eat anything your body will just refuse to burn any of it's fats...

Will it make you lose weight? I have heard that if you eat JUST carbs, and not mixing them with protein, it will make you lose weight. For example, you can eat 10 baked potatoes, but as long as you don't mix them with ANY protein, it will make you lose weight. Or, you could eat 10 steaks, and lose weight as long as you don't mix them with any carbs. The reason why this is, is because it's hard for your body to break down carbs and proteins. It's easier for your body to digest just one thing, and you will digest it much faster.

Anyway, I think it will work, because this woman on Freaky Eaters was eating 6,000 calories a day in sugary foods, and she was an average size for her age. She wasn't obese or anything. Someone that eats 6,000 calories a day would definitely be obese if it was of many different foods.

So, will it work? Do you think it will work? I don't care if it's healthy or not. Just please answer if you think it will work or not. It seems like a pretty good deal. Please no rude comments. Thanks to all the answers in advance!<3

The body digests sugar the fastest because it is close to the sugar energy the body uses.
Fortunately with a shole mess of sugar the body produces insulin to counter act that high level ingestion. But with high insulin comes sluggishness
Potatoes and breads are more complex forms of sugars so the body takes longer to process them(but it is done at a more even rate, therefore no sugar burst, but a marathon)
Meats is where the body uses more energy to extract the protein out of the meat. You actually burn calories. But there is very limited nutrition in just eating meat. No vitamins that the body needs for overall health.
Just eat like your mom fed you using smaller portions. Meat potatoes and vegies. And work out-not watching TV or the computer monitor(which is basically the same thing) Get active- walk to work instead of taking the car, do stuff physically moving legs arms and torso.

That is the magic.

hi im 15 and still growing but recently ive lost a lot of weight, since Christmas ive also eaten alot of fatty foods so im really surprised and slightly worried, ive lost half a stone since the last time i weighed myself , which was early December so through excessive eating ive still lost weight, lighter than i was nearly 2 years ago, im about 6 ft now.
The main thing that made me worried was i recently thought i was clinically depressed and weightloss was one of the physical symptoms of that, do you think this sudden loss in weight is down to that ? my mum is also diabetic and i know that diabetes causes massive weightloss in early stages so could it be that?

It depends how much effort you put into it really, no-one can tell this but yourself; reading through your other questions and comments I can see you are putting a lot of effort into this fitness thing; your BMI is 23.6, which is not too shabby by half!

My wife does Zumba classes once a week in the local village hall, it has done good things for her, and there is the group support to let you know how you are getting on; which is missing when you do only solitary fitness activities like exercise videos and jogging.

I am no expert on women's heath so my input can only be limited, sorry.

Blood flowing from the lungs, where it has absorbed oxygen, is pumped via the heart around the body through arteries. These arteries are the motorways and A roads of the circulatory system. They divide up into smaller arteries, which are more like the B roads and which divide further into tiny capillaries that resemble the narrow country lanes that delve into the depths of the countryside (and usually contain a stray sheep or two that it’s impossible to get past when in a hurry). It is these capillaries that carry oxygenated blood to the tissues and organs, as they are able to penetrate into the furthest flung areas.

Meanwhile, capillaries carry nutrients that are absorbed from the intestinal tract into the main bloodstream, from whence they can be delivered to the organs and tissues that need them. Blood also passes through the liver, where it is filtered and cleansed.

Once the nutrients and oxygen contained in the blood have been delivered, the blood drains into small veins which combine into bigger veins and eventually returns to the heart and lungs to offload carbon dioxide and collect more oxygen. One circuit completed. And it’s no mean feat; there are many miles of blood vessels spread throughout our bodies. Your blood is doing constant marathons.

In 1902 in the Basle region of Switzerland, an unique man was born. Throughout his childhood he learned about Nature and its laws from his grandparents and parents. The tuber of JA contains inulin, which is an oligosaccharide – there’s a name for you. Oligosaccharides are dietary fibres and have sweetening properties, but despite their sweetness they don’t need the pancreas to produce insulin to deal with them, so they don’t have an adverse effect on blood sugar levels like most sugars do.

It is wobbly blood sugar levels that trigger sugar cravings, causing people to feel hunger pangs that drive them towards sweet foods. If your blood sugar levels are more stable, you will experience fewer cravings and less need to snack frequently. Just what you need when on a diet.

I am on a diet - but every once in a while I get a serious craving for a bagel. I satisfied this craving today by eating half a multigrain bagel for breakfast (the rest of the week I've been eating a piece of fruit and an egg).

Ok so I have had anorexia since I was 13.. I am now 21.. I have been on a constant meal plan and maintained my weight for the past 6 months.. 3 meals and a snack. ok so its not that im really fat...

I'm a 14yr old girl, 169cm tall, weight is 63.4kg. Well background info- I decided I wanted to lose weight seriously, not just say it but do it , last year just before school finished. Well, I weighed myself back then and I came in at 68.4kg. Straight after that I began eating healthier and doing small amounts of cardio, as well as quick jogging after each meal. I don't have scales at home so I never got to check on my progress. Well it has been 5 weeks, and I started at a gym along with my mum 2 days ago, and we were weighed today. I came in at 63.4kg, meaning I lost 5kg in 5 weeks.

Well, what I'm trying to ask is, if I continue to eat healthily, but also work out an hour a day at the gym 5 or 6 days a week, can I lose weight any sooner than 1kg per a week? Seeing as though in the holidays I did not have much exercise and lost 1kg a week, will doing exercise at gym mean I could lose maybe 2kg a week? My goal is to weigh no more than 55kg by March aswell as to be more fit, as I am going on a one month school outdoors camp that I don't think I could do without the weight loss and strenght. I am starting to reduce my portions, cook more whole foods and veggies and less pre-packaged things, but I am not focusing on caloric intake because I want to keep things as normal as possible to provide proper nutrients for my baby. I am drinking lots of water, I am working out at least 6 days a week, walking lots (by force really, we don't own a car) am starting to notice a huge difference in my shape but only 2 pounds difference in my weight (since I started working out, that is, which wasn't very long ago).

What has worked best for you? How much weight/inches/whatever have you successfully lost and how long did it take you to do so?

Please include any tips you think are useful. I know I'm doing lots already but I'm always open to new ideas and don't know many other moms with this kind of experience.

depends if that person worked out for years then it wont but it will get soft. if some that worked out for 2, 3 years then in 3 months. also depending how much water that person carries. if a lot of water then sooner. but your muscles have muscle memory cells. a month in the gym and your back to normal.

iv been on the depo for a year now and iv decided i no longer want to go in for it, due to the MAJOR weight gain (15kg) i used to be 55kg then i shot up to 75kg in 6 months but moved home and instantly lost 5kg due to my diet.
my cousin who has also gained about the same while on the depo has agreed that we need to do more then swimming and kayaking, we want to start WALKING.. and where we want to walk is about 15-20km away (around the beach) and at the end of the walk to where we want to go is lunch (seafood) then walk back

Im athletic. I'm overall muscle. Still got a little bit of fat on my stomach but my stomach is pretty hard. If I don't eat a ton of carbs will I loose the fat? I lift weights 2 times a week and do ab exercises. I'm fit overall and am pretty lean. I can run half a mile in 3.30 minutes about and if i push myself hard and train then I most deffinately could do 3 minutes for 1/2 a mile. So you get the idea that I'm active overall. Should i cut back on the carbs for breakfast? is that to much carbs.

The reason why i eat that is because those two things ( the wraps and cereal ) are very high in fiber and keep me somewhat full during school until lunch. I'll have a small snack around 9:30 but yea u get it.

I have some strange symptoms and my doctor can't figure out what is wrong.

My symptoms are:
- fatigue
- low resting heart rate (46)
- dizziness when standing up
- low blood pressure (100/62)
- nausea and dizziness when heart rate reaches 180-190 (I am a competitve rower so this happens frequently)
- decreased endurance
- frequent nosebleeds
- missed periods (no possibility of pregnancy)
- fainting during or after exercise

I am of a healthy weight ( 19.4 BMI ) I have had children and came out of both in great shape :)

My breasts don't sag much I think most is excess skin, I can pass the pencil test ( can't hold a pencil under them ) but the upper half swoops enough for me to pinch a lot of skin there and under my arms.
I'm not looking at gaining breast just looking at how to tone up the breast and under arms?

breakfast: the best thing would be something with wheat in it and no sugar. or you could just have sliced bananas strawberries and any other fruit you would like to add with maybe some almond nuts and yogurt

lunch: a nice light chicken salad or tuna salad (thats if you like fish) as long as anything in the salad hasn't got alot of fat in it

dinner: any meat is fine with vegtables as long as there not done in a deep fat fryer. stir frying is the best way to cook veg

Yes, weights are a good idea, but introduce them slowly. The best way to increase the benefits derived from the exercise is to walk a set route each time, and time yourself.. Then set a target time of a few minutes less than the first time, and steadily reduce the target time as you become fitter and faster. There is obviously a limit to this, but you could try finding some hills to include in your route. If you live near a decent beach, walking on soft sand is excellent exercise. Or, try going to your local swimming baths and walking in water. Anything that offers some resistance increases the benefits of the exercise.

I was 5'6 and 110 pounds by restricting to 1300 calories a day for around 6 months.

During then, I guess I've been too restrictive. I lost my period for 6 months. However I did feel really proud and happy at 110. I feel it is my right weight.

I saw my Dr and she put me on birth control pills starting December.

So since December this year, I started binging and eating too much everyday for 4-5 weeks. Lots of junk food.

I also got my period for the first time in 6 months this week.

I gained 20 pounds in total. I feel bloated, heavy, horrible and failure. I exercised hard to lose weight and I was really overweight before (150 pounds). I also started eating really healthily before.

Theses days I eat unhealthily, too much, binge and am gaining weight.

I want to ask, do you think some of the weight is from getting my period again from the pills ?

And how do I realistically combat the weight gain? I've decided to stop eating junk food and binging today. But I don't want to restrict too much and go back to old habits.

Well I'm a male, I just turned 16 recently and I am very concerned that Ive stopped growing. The last time I can recall growing was a month or two after turning 15 (my birthday is in December) it was when I went from 5'8-5'10"1/2. But after that I haven't grown at all... originally I thought I had gain an inch around midyear because whenever I got measured I got around 180cm (I got 182cm with 2cm tall heeled shoes and 186cm with my runners), so one day I was sick and went to the hospital for a checkup so they took my height and I was shocked to find out that I was still the same height so I got somewhat depressed but my mom kept telling me that the nurse that was measuring me was too short and she couldn't reach the top of my head so the thing that was resting on my head was slanting and thats why the measurement was wrong... anyway the point is that I haven't gain any height for 10 months If I'm 178cm and if I'm 5'11 I haven't gain any height for about 8-9months...I'm the only "tall" boy in my class that is under 6ft...I feel left out XD, all I really want is to be 6.2ft or at the least 6ft before I stop growing...I would be pissed to find out that Ive stopped growing at an age where most teenage males continue to grow, since I'm only 8/10cm from reaching my goal. Ive did my research and tried almost everything (that I can do) that is supposed to increase height and nothing works...I drink two big glasses of milk everyday and swam everyday for 2 months straight and another time for 3 months straight...not even 1cm... can someone please help me with this? Is it normal for growth to pause like this? Or have I already stopped growing (I hope not D=).

I started dieting about a month ago and I've lost 10 pounds due to really healthy and controlled eating and exercising every day. However, I've reached a plateau and I think I need to take a closer look at my gym routine, which nowadays looks like this:

20 Minutes Elliptical (Light Intensity)
10 Minutes Leg Circuits (Muscle)
10 Minutes Torso Circuits (Muscle)
10 Minutes Ab Workouts and Stretching

I only have about an hour every day to gym but I need to focus more on maximizing my fat burn. I've read up about stretching before cardiovascular exercises to "spread" out the muscle so more is burned but I don't know. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

i know this seems like a stupid question, but im not seeing the harm its doing me. im a 20 year old college student, and im starting to religiously go to the gym.. im eating a shitload of protein
(probably 200ish g) and on some days im sure i eat over 6000 cals.. im 6'0 and right now about 175 pounds.. i always ate alot, and have been quite skinny for the most part (almost to the point of being lanky).. now tho im getting rapid results and am putting on a ton of muscle but staying at about the same weight (aka im getting a real low body fat %).. im a pretty fast guy i cant decide if i want to just get big and forego runnning for the most part (which im told will bulk me up quicker) or keep running and take it a lil easier on the weight training..

either way, i try to eat healthy when i can, but i also compulsively eat like a big bag of doritoes or whatever whenever i see one.. i still have some good ab definition, but how much can all these chips (or cake or cookies or ice cream) hurt? obviously theyre not the healthiest, but i cant really see how their slowing me down (and if they are it cant be more than negligibly, even with my lack of cardio)

So I was arguing with a friend today that said you can't be overweight and fit.

My (other) friend and exercise partner started at 300 pounds. She is now 230. Every other day she runs (and yes RUNS) three miles, while I lose my breath after the first. She can do 100 push ups and sit ups no problem. She puts me to shame, and I am relatively skinny and exercise routinely. I would say that even though she is currently overweight, she is fit.

What do you guys think?

Long story made short. I am 21 years old 153 pounds and 5 feet 3 inches, very active, healthy, athletic and fat. Family promotes healthy eating. I run 3 miles (at the same pace) one morning and the next morning I power walk 3 miles. I eat fist size meals, and I know about sodium, trans fats, calories, sugar, and all that fun stuff. I have tiered healthy dieting, I have tiered starving, I have tiered healthy dieting with diet pills and starving with diet pills. Oh yea I also work out at night for two hours. I do a 30 minutes cardio warm up then one day I do upper body along with abs and the next I do lower body. You can tell that I work out I am full of energy and tone. Yet I am still fat, I can grab a handful of fat, which depresses me because I work so hard. I have incredible self-control and dedication. I have trained my friends at the gym and I have made them eating plans… the ones who actually follow my instructions look very pretty and have such a good bodies. Then I look at the mirror and I am still a size 11 and I still shop for size Large. I been to my doctor and I am healthy, I had a trainer and he says I am fit, I had a nutritionist and i believe I know how to eat properly. I believe I am going into a depression and seeking help from anyone who might have had this problem and found a solution to getting rid of this nasty fat I call my back boobs and my rolls. I weight 153 and I am 40 inches around the stomach area): its not in my head its actual fat. Yes I consume plenty of water my 8 glasses every day. Some prison inmates
have nothing but a sink, a toilet, their bed, and a few square feet of
space at their disposal. They need an exercise routine that can be
done in a confined space without equipment. The "Prison Workout,"
which was nicknamed by some people who saw prisoners without access to
weights doing it, is designed to develop strength, endurance, speed,
agility, and balance. It also produces gains in muscle, losses in body
fat, and plenty of stamina. It is a total body and cardio workout. The
Prison Workout consists of one classic exercise, the "burpee." This
exercise works your chest, arms, front deltoids, thighs and abs. The
burpee is a six-count exercise:
1) Stand with your feet shoulder width
apart and your hands raised over your head. Then squat down and place
your palms on the floor by your feet.
2) Kick both of your legs back so that you're in push-up position.
3) Bend your elbows and lower your
body until your chest touches the floor.
4) Push yourself back up.
5) At the end of the push-up, quickly pull both knees into your chest
while keeping your hands on the floor. You're jumping back into the
squat position of step one.
6) Stand straight up by straightening your

Ive heard people say Well if you eat right,and eat good lean meat youll be getting all the amino acids you need" etc,but still..what Im wondering is if say in a 6 week trial of weight lifting ,would I gain slightly/significantly more muscle mass/definition with taking these high quality amino acid pills compared to if not? even with the protein powders?

Im surprised how easy this calculator makes it seem to lose weight. I put that i was 203 pounds, and a male and i chose the laziest activity setting....basically no exercise, and it still says i can eat a whole 2860 calories to maintain my current weight...however im currently on a diet that is way below 1800 calories. Is this a good thing...can i expect to lose weight? 1 pound a week?

i tried another site and they gave me a similar estimate...2799 calories....i can easily do this right?? I dont eat that many calories anymore....

I'm freaking out. I've started being really adamant about keeping a food diary and trying to maintain a 1200 calorie a day limit. Today, I had a great day in terms of staying within my range, when I had a craving for carrots as a snack after I ate my dinner. I ate about half a bag of baby carrots and got so nauseous that I threw up. What's scaring me is that I could see my dinner in my vomit. I've read about your body going into starvation mode and slowing down your metabolism if you go below 1200 calories a day. So what happened when I threw up? Am I screwed? I really didn't feel hungry after throwing up, so I'm worried that I messed up my food diary now. Do I subtract my dinner, or divide the calories, or what? Please help! I know this is just one day and tomorrow I will be fine, but I cannot sleep until I know how the digestive process works.

And why did raw carrots make me sick? I thought they were supposed to be a smart food or something. Not even the greasiest steakhouse burger got me that sick. Sorry for the rant. Also, I'm 223 lbs, 5'4 if that means anything.

To start, I'd like to say that I'm in terrible shape, and my plan has the end result of getting back into the United States Army, not for some time though. Basically, my question is whether strictly burning tons of calories will result in losing weight. And by "tons of calories", I mean my plan goes as follows:

I'm a 5'9", 270 lbs male, meaning my basal metabolic rate is about 2300
If I only eat 1000 calories a day, I will burn 1300 from normal functioning.
If I do P90X (the workout) every day, the workouts are designed to burn 600 calories each
If I do P90X in the morning and aim to burn 2000 calories in the evening from say, 2 hours of intense working out on an elliptical or arc trainer

That brings my daily deficit to 3900 calories. If I do this the entire duration of P90X (which is 90 days) will I REALLY lose 100 lbs in 90 days? The 100 lbs comes from 3900 calories X 90 days, equaling 351,000 calories burned, divided by 3500 cal/pound.

So, would this actually happen with this workout routine, and how realistic is it to complete this routine as written?

I started jumping rope on Saturday. I read in an article that it was more effective than jogging. I jump for 30 minutes everyday. I'm 5' 4". I'm 127 and I've lost about 3 pounds since Saturday but I am not seeing changes in my body. I know this takes a lot of times, months even. But does any one know an exact amount of time? At your height and weight, you may notice a few pounds more of loss, but the main difference is going to be in your body composition. This will probably take anywhere from 4 weeks to start seeing results, to 3 months to notice a significant change. Your caloric intake as well as strength training (highly recommended) and activity level (other than working out) will all alter the amount of time it will take to see a significant change.

I would recommend taking body measurements. This will be much more effective in determining any sort of progress. There are too many factors that can determine the numbers on the scale and very few of them will have anything to do with your appearance. This includes hydration, fecal accumulation etc, additionally muscle mass will increase your weight or at the very least keep you from seeing a downward progression in weight.

you definitely don't lose weight by smelling apples! if you want to just drop a couple sizes, I suggest counting calories. I know it sound like a pain in the ***, but keeping a food diary and counting calories throughout the day is said to make you a more organized person, so that's a plus:) there's really no way around diet and exercise, that is the best method. hope this helps:)

Hey, im 18. My dad and i have a bet. He says i cant put 2 inches on my arms by the time i get by for spring break. So, Triceps and bicept workouts. Who knows any that will kick my *** and make a strong burn. I normally bicept dumbell 20 then 15. after 1 set of 20 im fatigued and work on 15. So whos got a work out for muscle growth, not toning.

I have polycystic ovaries and insulin resistance.

I'm not interested in "fad" diet or any such thing.

What's frustrating is I am now eating approximately 800-1200 calories a day. If I eat any more than that I start to put on weight!! I cannot possibly cut any more food out of my daily diet. I have breakfast, lunch and dinner and never snack or eat in the evening after my main meal.

I have spoken to my doctor on numerous occasions regarding this and have had my thyroid checked to make sure it's not that.

I'm on Metformin and have lost a little weight since going on that but my doctor has cut the dosage down to see if it was the Metformin that was causing the weight loss or if it was natural. Since the dosage has gone down I have put on a couple of pounds.

Is there something in particular I need to cut out? I don't know if I'm simply eating the wrong things (because of the insulin resistance I don't know if there are certain things I just shouldn't eat) tho I don't eat any fried food, chips, chocolate, crisps etc. I always eat wholewheat or brown bread, low fat spreads etc.

Please help!!! I'm getting so annoyed as I already have low energy levels from having such a low calorie intake :(

Bulk up your meals with veggies if you're feeling hungry. I divide my plate in 4 parts. 1 part protein, 1 part grain, and 2 parts veggies, sometimes 3 parts veggies and leave out the grain or protein. I make soups at home with fat free lower sodium chicken broth and loaded with celery, carrots and other vegetables and either eat that by itself or I'll add boiled chicken or brown rice to it to make it more hearty. For breakfast, I'll eat eggwhite omelets with spinach, onions, mushrooms, shredded parmesan cheese and salsa. Veggies are a great way to fill yourself up without filling yourself out.

Am I really fat for 20 years old?

ok, so I weigh 193 lbs. I'm somewhere around 5ft-5ft 5 inches. Im 20 yearold female. What weight do u think I would look "normal" at? How do you think I should reward myself when I lose the weight also?

I would aim somewhere in the 150-170 category if you are looking for standard build.
